Russia 11 June 2008 – St. Petersburg

Here I will post some photos and a little review of the concert, comented by Carole Stevens. I just want to make a point, Candice is a very bright person her photos are really Wonderful, and Blackmore´s Night is a brave band that really respect the fans and their dreams to see excellent performances, no matter if it´s a rainy day, if somebody becomes ill, if there´s a storm outside. Because the Music always resists, Music brings us peace, brings us cure, brings us union! All my congratulations to the band!!!
Comments by Carole Stevens (Blackmore Productions):
“One of our band members was extremely ill and in the hospital clinic for hours prior to the show and went to the show, right from emergency treatment. We did not expect to even be able to have a show that night. That is why they had to stop a little early; still playing close to two hours The sold out audience was fantastic even waiting outside for hours to applaud the group when they left the venue.”

Hi all, back at work after my trip to Sweden. Great show, almost 2 and a half hours long and the band was in fine form. Ritchie’s ‘Spice-up-the-Joan-Baez-story-by-saying-she-was-naked’ remark was classic and caused my sides to ache and eyes to water…
All in all great performances by all band members. Gypsy Rose worked really well adding some great vocal assistance and violin parts. I hope they use her multi-instrumentalism to bring back some of the ‘older’ classics that have been away from the setlist for too long. Faerie Queen, anyone?
Roll on Germany!

Now & then
A fantastic show, the played for approximate 2 hrs and 40 minutes.
The band was in great mood and Ritchie smiled several times and exchanged funny stories with the band. Candice almost convinced Ritchie to use her mic and he was very close to do so. They did an absolute strong and fierce Ariel. Probably the best version I’ve heard. Ritchie did the usual beer hand out. Thanks needed that, the theatre was extremely hot. Yes, we’re having a really hot summer in Sweden. The audience was great, really involved with the show. When Ritchie played quiet guitar parts you could hear a pin drop and as you all know this spurs the man to do some amazing solos. And yes,
Malcolm is still in the band. I told him that someone on the net was claiming to be the new drummer. He was very surprised by that. Nur Eine Minute (and some others I believe) was also played, a revised set list and full review with photos will be at the site soon.Best regards,
Paul Deblond
